Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN)
This exam will enable you to gain professional ethics and efficiency in tax administration and practice.
The Scheme comprises three main categories of membership. These are Fellows, Associates and Graduates.
Fellows
Conferment of Fellowship is on application, after an applicant must have satisfied the Council that as an Associate member of the Institute, he/she has acquired at least 5 years cognate experience either in tax practice or administration.
Associates
In accordance with the Charter and Rules and Regulations of the Institute, a person is admitted as an Associate on application provided that:
He/she is a graduate member of the Institute and has acquired the relevant tax experience; or
Was admitted through direct application into the Institute's membership
Graduate Members
These comprise of candidates who had passed the prescribed examinations of the Institute. Before final upgrade into Associate membership cadre, graduate members must have acquired practical experience in tax practicing firms as required by Council. The minimum period of full practical experience is 18 months which may be acquired before or after qualification.

ELIGIBILITY TO REGISTER AS STUDENT MEMBER
Every prospective candidate for admission to student membership must satisfy the Council that;
He/She is not below the age of 18.
He/She possesses a minimum of first degree, Higher National Diploma or its equivalent.
He/She is fit and proper to be registered.

EXEMPTION CLAUSE:
The Institute will consider applications for exmptions from holders of the following qualifications:
B.Sc./HND Taxation (from all parts except Professional II)
Associate members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria with at least one-year tax experience. (From all parts except Revenue Law, International Taxation and PE II).
Lawyers (from all parts except Accounting, International Taxation, Revenue Law except where it was offered at the University and PE II)
Other qualifiacations from other recognized professional bodies and institutions acceptable to the Institute. (Subject for subject exemtion except Revenue Law, International Taxation and PE II).
Tax holder (From all parts except Accounting, International Taxation, Revenue Law and PE II)
GRADUATES
These are candidates who have passed the prescribed examination of the Institute and satisfied Council that they are fit and proper persons to be so enrolled.
FELLOWS
Associate members who have satisfied Council that for a period of 5 years immediately preceding the date of the application in that behalf, they have been in continuous active practice as professional tax practitioners or administrators. Fellows use the designatory letters FCTI meaning, Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria .
The annual subscription is N10, 000.
