Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) (Nigeria)
The Institute is a corporate body charged with the general duties of: Determining what standard of knowledge and skill are to be attained by persons seeking to become registered as personnel management practitioners and raising these standards from time to time as circumstances may permit; Securing in accordance with the provisions of the decree, the establishment and
maintenance of a register of members and publication from time to time of the list of those person; Regulating and controlling the profession in all its aspects and ramifications; Performing through the Council under the Decree the functions conferred on it by the Decree.
The Institute's enabling charter provides for three broad categories of membership. These are: individual, Corporate and honourary membership.

MEMBERSHIP
The grades of Associate, Full member and Fellow are the three professional grades; out of the three, the grade of Fellow is the highest to which a member can aspire.
REGISTRATION
The minimum educational requirement for admission is the West African School Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) with credit in five subjects, which must include English Language and Mathematics. Ordinary pass in either English Language or Mathematics may be considered for applicants with a Degree/HND.

This means that a person who is on any one of them is required either to write and pass some qualifying examinations, or continue to perform core HR functions that would earn him professional status.

Exemption application dates
Such a request must have reached the Institute not later than three months before the date of an examination
Enrolment on an e-certified course does not register you with CIPM.
